How to make your leave go further
Public-holiday planning
- Easter Monday, Liberation Day, Labour Day and Republic Day are key dates to test in spring.
- Ferragosto on 15 August is a major fixed holiday and can combine well with weekends.
- Local patron-saint holidays can matter in addition to the national calendar.
Legal basis and comparison method
Employees are entitled to at least four weeks of paid annual leave. At least two weeks are normally taken in the year they accrue; the remaining two can generally be used within the following 18 months.
Regional and calendar caveats
The planner combines weekends with supported public-holiday data and can use first-level regional calendars where the dataset provides them. Employer-specific, municipal and sector-specific days can still differ.
This is a planning aid, not employment-law advice. Entitlement can depend on tenure, work pattern, sector, contract, collective agreement and regional law.
