How to make your leave go further
Public-holiday planning
- Easter Monday, Corpus Christi, All Saintsβ Day and the Christmas period are recurring opportunities.
- Corpus Christi always falls on a Thursday, often making Friday a high-value leave day.
- The statutory leave floor rises from 20 to 26 days once qualifying service reaches ten years.
Legal basis and comparison method
Full-time employees receive 20 days if qualifying employment is under 10 years and 26 days once it reaches at least 10 years. Certain education periods count toward qualifying service.
Equivalent by service length
| 1st year / first full entitlement | 20 days |
| 2 years | 20 days |
| 5 years | 20 days |
| 10 years | 26 days |
| 20+ years | 26 days |
Simplified comparison points. Actual legal thresholds may use anniversaries, cumulative service, education credits or other rules.
Regional and calendar caveats
The planner combines weekends with supported public-holiday data and can use first-level regional calendars where the dataset provides them. Employer-specific, municipal and sector-specific days can still differ.
This is a planning aid, not employment-law advice. Entitlement can depend on tenure, work pattern, sector, contract, collective agreement and regional law.
